Mt. Taylor

We took Posey on her second hiking trip this past weekend.

We went to Mt. Taylor in the NW part of the state. The mountain is named after President Zachary Taylor and is an old volcano. We didn't make it to the top because Posey woke up and was a little cranky, but we did make it to 10,300 ft.

Mt. Taylor marks the southern border of the Navajo's traditional territory and considered sacred by all the local tribes. The local hunters like it as well and we passed several hunting camps and hunters on the way up.

Posey strapped to my back and almost to the top of Mt. Taylor. We're at approximately 10,000 ft in this picture.
Jessica, Posey, and I. I'm trying hard to get her in the picture but I can't see her - and apparantly neither can the camera (10,300ft)
Jessica looking up at the peak which is the gently sloped grassy part behind her.
