Katydid, katydon't

This all happened on the way to the library, and I have to tell you it just writes itself.  I didn't quite realize i had a story until I went to tell HP about the Katydid.

We found him about a block from the library and Posey wanted to take him and show her friends at the library. HE was 99% not alive at this time, but a really nice specimen. We picked him up and put him on the stroller.
He fell off.
So i asked Posey to carry him on his leaf.
The wind blew him off.
So we found a leaf and made a wind break for him. He made it into the library and  Posey wanted to show him around to the other kids in the story pit. One little girl, Lori, really took to Katydid and she took him around to show the others.  They put him down and started paying attention to story time.
About this time Emily comes in late with her mom who is very pregnant. Emily circles around saying hi to friends. I am keeping my eye on Katydid.  She settles on a place and trips and falls right on top of The katydid. I let out a gasp, her mom grabs the leaf and seeing a bug on it runs to take it outside. How ever we just got new sliding glass doors to the story pit and in her haste to get this bug outside she gets flustered and cannot figure out which is the door. She eventaully gets it out the door.
Story time goes on.
Songs and a scholastic movie.
a book themed craft.
Then my kids want a snack, so we go outside to the atrium. Where the katydid was previously lying on the ground.
The katydid was now 100+% dead and had been adopted by two girls. They had fashioned a casket out of leaves and were in the process of having a funeral and digging a grave for it.  Posey starts crying and needs my help to go tell them that she really wanted to take the Katydid home with her.
He makes it home and goes with Posey to school and back home. Where he was lost into the chaos.
the End.

Love your blog. You all just have too much fun. The Katydid story was too funny. Maybe you should write children's books. Because the simplest stories are really the best.
