Leyton Cougar and Raven

We have been trying to take a day or weekend each month for family time, since we are not camping right now.  We decided to go visit the wolf sanctuary between grants and Gallup New Mexico since the kids have really been into wolves lately. The day was rainy and i was doing good just to stay on my feet much less take pictures. waylon and posey loved the mud, but Zinnia was quite distressed.  The rain held off while we toured the enclosures, and then started when we were finished. It is a pretty neat  pace and very near the reservation I worked at when I first moved to New Mexico.

Then we traveled to gallup to spend the night in a historic hotel !

I don't know if my pictures do it justice, they loved the hotel, but instead of either sleeping or not sleeping there was a lot of overtired screaming and crying and whining.... but i have almost forgotten it by now.

 

Red Rock State Park 

My babies hiked most of the way up these georgous hills in wind and cloudy weather. Zinnia had to be helped over the steeper parts though she didn't want to be. And waylon needed to hold my hand the whole way down because he was tired. Because of the weather and ecetera i didn't take any pictures to really be able to show you what they did.  I "borrowed" these from the internet but it gives you a good idea of what we did. It was awesome to see them really get into it and exceed my expectations. It almost made that hellacious night in a hotel worth it.
